Team Turner Loose is led by team captain David Turner. Tying up in Galveston, Texas, the team has been fishing competitively since 2003. In the team's first tournament, the Fish for Brains Classic out of Freeport, Tex., they finished third with a 42.5 lb. catch. After a long search for just the right boat, the team settled on a 32 ft. Fountain equipped with twin Mercury 275 Verados. The choice has served them well and the team is very competitive in the Southern Kingfish Association (SKA) Division 8. Turner Loose is also acive in the Texas King Mackerel Association (TKA), and fishes competitively in the FLW Outdoors professional circuit, as well as in various charity tournaments.
2006 Wal-Mart FLW Kingfish Series, Port Aransas, Tex. • 1st place with a 46 lb. 1 oz. catch • Caught fishing a patch of rocky bottom in 35 feet of water, the winning fish hit a live blue runner on a long flatline. When they landed the winning catch, they thought it would top out at about 36 lb. The ultimate 46 lb. weigh-in was a delightful surprise, and enough to win top honors for the team.
2006 GYB Bait and Tackle Tournament, Galveston, Tex. • 2nd place with a 48.81 lb. catch. Top Lady Angler. Top Senior Angler. • "We ran a hundred miles and settled on a rig in 147 feet of water. It was a spot we had never fished before but conditions looked good," said David. Jill landed the winning catch using a blue runner dragged on top to bring home Top Lady Angler honors. Scott rounded out the successful event with a win as Top Senior Angler.
